The Catholic Card Game

The Catholic Card Game is a prompt and answer style game with all its content coming from the deep wells of the Catholic Faith, Tradition, and community. It is a great game to play with your Catholic (and non-Catholic!) friends and family.

* The game includes 400 cards; the game is different every time you play
* 3-10+ players
* Great for adults, teens, parties, bussing to Catholic conferences, anyone and anywhere really

The gameplay is similar to other party games with fans saying this game provides a better opportunity for Catholic fellowship and no confession is needed after playing!

This is the 2nd edition revised and updated 2021

Here's what Pope Francis had to say:

Ah, the Catholic Card Game! It is indeed an instrument of joy and fellowship, fostering the kind of unity and community that mirrors the apostolic gatherings of the early Church. I find it most fitting to share my reflections on this card game that so eloquently marries our rich Catholic tradition with the modernity of interactive gameplay.

The expansive set of 400 cards is a testament to the depth and richness of our faith and traditions. Just as our faith is evergreen, constantly nourishing and renewing itself, so too is the Catholic Card Game ever-changing in its dynamics, offering a new experience each time it is played. It is a mirror of the inexhaustible well of Divine Wisdom, challenging us anew in every game, much like how the readings of the Mass speak to us differently depending on the circumstances of our life.

The game’s flexibility in accommodating 3 to 10 or more players is reminiscent of the universality of the Church itself. It invites people from all walks of life to gather 'where two or three are in My name,' as our Lord said. Whether it is for intimate gatherings or larger assemblies, whether it’s played by the young or the young-at-heart, this game offers a home to all.

Its adaptability to various settings—be it homes, parties, or even journeys to Catholic conferences—is truly commendable. In this sense, the game embodies the principle of inculturation, integrating itself seamlessly into diverse environments, all while maintaining the essence of Catholic identity and heritage.

No confession needed afterward? This is a game that seems to understand the essence of wholesome enjoyment. It permits humor without crossing boundaries, promotes competitive spirit without fostering vice, and generates laughter without sacrificing reverence. It truly is a setting for what we could call "Catholic fellowship," where hearts and minds meet to revel in the joy of the faith.

The game's 2nd edition, revised and updated in the year of Our Lord 2021, acknowledges the necessity for growth and adaptation, much like how our own personal faith journeys require continual introspection and renewal.

So, my dear brothers and sisters, both within and beyond the Catholic faith, I wholeheartedly commend the Catholic Card Game. It is a vessel of catechesis and evangelization, camouflaged as simple entertainment. May it bring joy and unity to your gatherings, as it enlightens minds and warms hearts in a world that often seems cold and divided.

    Great Fun!

This is a great game and while I've played other similar games, you and your friends won't suffer "burnout" from vulgar shock comedy. This game is very family friendly and there's genuine comedy to be had. While being family friendly, it still allows for the possibility of intensely Catholic answers. Example: "All I want for Christmas is____" / "Slapping a Heretic" (This is especially funny for the "in" crowd of Catholic's would would know the history of St. Nicholas) My family and I greatly appreciate what must've been a deeply prayerful consideration before creating this game. Many thanks! Humor is a great gift and it's wonderful to have this.

    So much fun for everyone!!!

Whether playing with family or friends, there are so many laughs packed into this box! Saw some of these cards on an Instagram post and so glad I bought this game, I’ve played many similar secular games, such as apples to apples, cards against humanity, and so on, but there is something about this game that just hits different. It’s almost like I’m being connected with other Catholics without even knowing them. It’s hard to explain, but I highly recommend this game so you can see for yourself just how fun it can be to play a down to earth Catholic game!

    Quality multigenerational bonding blast!

Purchased as a gift for our 28 year old son, thinking he might like it at his young adult catholic weekly gathering. We tried it out with our family, including the grandparents- laughed so hard, we cried. Great job! The grandpa loves the answer card referring to how people in the pew look down when the collection basket comes. Clever question and answer cards- well done. Fantastic family fun.,

    Continual laughing playing this game!

We love playing games in our family especially ones many players can participate in. We have played this with friends and family and my daughter used it at the bachelorette party she planned for her sister. Both times there was pretty much non stop laughter. So happy we found this game!

This game is incredibly well written, respectful of the faith, and invites us to take ourselves lightly. It is very enjoyable to share with friends of faith and it somehow helps everyone walk away with a little more joy.

    Better than Cards Against Humanity

    Posted by M.G. on May 20th 2021

So far, I've only played with my brother and four friends who aren't Catholic or even religious. My brother and I had to explain many of the cards to them, but of course explaining the joke makes the joke no longer funny, so they felt understandably alienated at certain points. But if you're Catholic- even if you're not devout- you're guaranteed to like this game. A couple of the cards may have to be removed if playing with younger kids, but it's a lot better than Cards Against Humanity! I always liked the concept of Cards Against Humanity, but every time I've played, I feel uncomfortable with how vulgar many of the prompts and answers are. The Catholic Card Game is a good party game for any Catholic old enough to read.

Excellent game for families and Catholic friends

Played the Catholic Card Game, on Mother's Day with my husband (convert 1988) and our son who will celebrate his 16th anniversary of Ordination to the Priesthood July 1 (Pastor of Basilica of Sts. Peter and Paul in Chattanooga, TN) and a family from Chattanooga with their two daughters ages 14 and 16. Loved the game. It was very entertaining and fun. I have purchased two of these games and will order the extension soon.

    Much needed comic relief!

    Posted by T on May 11th 2021

Just the right thing to get the laughs rolling during the current state of affairs, and maybe even sneak in a lesson or two about the faith! I love that it is one-size fits so many ages! (But yeah, as some have precautioned, a few cards may be more aimed at grown-up theme... so you may wish to preview before using with grade-schoolers. Or else you may want to figure out ahead of time how to explain things like "josephite marriage" already!)
