The More Discerning Priest: Mature Discernment in Diocesan Priesthood by Fr. Timothy Gallagher

Product Overview

Description: In their life and ministry, priests must not only resist the discouragement of desolation but also an energy, a consolation that may draw them toward a good thing—but not one that God desires for them. In eight clear and practical rules, Saint Ignatius of Loyola provides a roadmap through such sensitive discernments. In this book, the first of its kind, Father Gallagher applies these eight rules specifically to the priestly vocation. This short, easily read, and profound book will provide light and guidance to any priest who reads it.

Endorsements:

“It has been ‘grace upon grace’ to discover St. Ignatius’s second set of rules through this book from Father Gallagher. These rules have already provided me with greater clarity when discerning God’s will among the many good desires and proposals that come my way as a parish priest. This book aids me in answering: ‘What promptings are truly from God?’”

------------

“That Father Gallagher has brought his great expertise to bear specifically on the life of the diocesan priest is a great gift to us. Using Saint Ignatius’s Second Set of Rules, Father Gallagher helps us navigate the subtler temptations of the enemy that can undermine our lives and rob our ministry of its fruits. Father Gallagher here helps us allow the Holy Spirit truly to reveal the glory of God in the lives of Christ’s flock entrusted to our care.”
